Should The Conservatard Be Renamed?

October 15, 2006

It has been brought to the attention of Mr. C. that the name of this blog is rather derogatory to mentally disabled individuals. When Mr. C. first conceived of The Conservatard he was quite aware of the implications in the name. In fact his very first post addressed this issue. The New Name Game!

Unlike some people who happen to be in the administrative branch of the United States, Mr. Conservatard will occasionally change his mind. So here is the deal. Mr. C. humbly request that all three readers of The Conservatard, and anybody else that may be forced to read this drivel, submit a more politically correct name for this blog. Mr. C. will personally review all the name submissions and create a vote of the finalists.

What are the criteria for name submissions? Keep the names fairly clean, no real nasty swear words. The name should capture the point of this site which is to expose the multiple self serving actions of authoritarian politicians, writers, speakers and followers. Finally it should be an attention getter. Something that makes it stand out from the crowd of anti-conservative web sites.

You can submit the new title with your real name or a pseudonym. The winner, if they so choose to be associated at all with this site, will receive a really nifty whiz-bang gift. Something like a bag of dryer lint or perhaps a toy car. Good luck and let the name calling begin!

Honestly, the Conservatard should not be renamed. The name itself may not be politically correct in the sense of being a vicious attack on neo-conservative parties, but is lexically not a slander on mentally handicapped persons. It is hurtful to call mentally handicapped people retarded because of the way people have treated them. Retardation itself only means to prevent or hinder someone or something from growth in some way. That definitely describes the neo-conservative movement in my humble opinion.

    Retard –verb (used with object)
    1. to make slow; delay the development or progress of (an action, process, etc.); hinder or impede.

Which pretty much describes conservative idealogy.

Stick with Conservatard. If it pisses off the conservatives, good. If it doesn’t piss them off, it shows how completely oblivious they are.

Either way, the good guys win.

    Dear Mr. C,
Rename just for the sake of being PC? I say you do that when the Conservatards you write about begin to do the same. (I expect Hell to freeze over first) I truly feel being Politically Correct as an American is constantly questioning the authority in charge, is that not what the Constitution granted us?
Keep up the good fight my Dear Mr. C and don’t let anyone tell you how to practice your own version of being a true American!

Well, I think I’ve been voted down. You have made your case and I stand corrected. However, I do like the Buffoon Review. Take care, Your mother.
